I’m going to write a bigger piece on this at some point, but as a general brief message now; please remember that this whole industry was built because of the efforts of a few people, and it’s incredibly disrespectful to act as if all of these new stores can pop up just because of chance and not because the original creators went out of their way to create and promote incredible works of art through their toys and allowed a community to be fostered.
You might think you’re hot shit for starting up and having lots of cool things, but don’t ignore the efforts of those who didn’t have access to 3D printing, or tons of fancy pigments, or 3D sculpting, or an already established group of people willing to share and promote the work of newcomers who have not been establishing their own reputation.
Respect goes a damn long way in this community, and acting like you’re stellar after a handful of sales does nothing but insult the people who’s efforts allowed you to be made.
Okay like real talk here, the internet has made it really normal for customers to hype up a business and get nothing in return but like? That’s marketing. That’s advertising. Before the internet, ‘making things to promote a business’ was a paying job. It should still be!
The BD Forums is completely user-powered – to the point where the company itself almost completely dismissed it – and yet I do not doubt that a large share of BD’s popularity comes from those users pumping it up. BD used to offer rewards for reviews. They used to do Labs contests instead of just amassing designs they can legally steal. But with the amount BD was worth, and the amount they got from the sales generated by those reviews, or those designs, will never be seen by the people who made that content.
Yeah, okay, it’s fantasy dicks! But a business that is holding a monopoly on content that could be incredibly diverse, and spending their resources on ripping off other businesses and content creators in order to maintain their position at the top does not need you to produce free marketing for them.
Thank you for the heads up with Xenocat! I’ll make them a post when it’s not midnight.
BD’s firmness may be 8a, but many mainstream stores run far higher, and for those used to places like Tantus this is not an extraordinary firmness. I trust that people making purchases are smart enough to read listings and determine whether or not a product is right for them without my help.
Hey question for any vegan followers or followers who know vegans: can you be vegan and into vore
That’s a good one! I’ll pop it on.
Okay, so, in order to have the tag-to-toy browsing system, I need to make a post for every toy. I’m going to queue them so it’s not all at once, but for a while this is going to be 90% plain pictures and descriptions of toys and company summaries, in no particular order other than ‘ones I have the files for when I make the post’.
These will all be tagged with #catalog if you want to blacklist them.
If you’ve ever wanted to search for a certain kind of toy, let me know so I can work it into the tagging system. This is what I’ve got so far!

It’s by no means complete and infallible, but I am glad it’s helping with what it can provide!
