I’m going to be that guy. Maker strange bed fellas ripped off bad dragon’s signature Arctic Ice coloration. The base looks a heck of a lot like Elden’s. We can’t post links in asks, but he toy in question is Yuri in strange bed fellas’ shop.

Bad Dragon’s Elden pictured left; Strange Bedfellas’ Yuri pictured right. Angles are not exact match, and Elden’s 3D model features mild glitching around the base.

I can see the similarities you mention, but it is also a very generic scaled base design. Elden is more elongated, uses a ridged opening instead of a smooth one, and features an extra ring of scales in comparison to Yuri. I personally believe that the differences are as much as possible given the simplicity in either design, but I can understand your concerns.

I would comment on the colors, but I’m not sure what BD’s Arctic Ice coloration even looks like – Googling it turned up multiple completely different combinations. If you do have a link to an example of the color, the submit box should still be open and does accept links as well as images!

Is it just me, or is it super creepy that Bad Dragon is doing promotions with a kid show (My Little Pony) followed up by a show where most of the actors are underage (Stranger Things). If it was just MLP for the fan overlap whatever. Followed up immediately by a show where most of the cast is under age to even buy their products bothers me.

I can’t say I disagree with you.

Twin Tail Creations has released a lineup of five Halloween colors (October 7th, 2017), including the new Corruption, appearing similar to Bad Dragon’s Sinister Pumpkin (2013) and Witchfire, appearing similar to a premade pour from Strange Bedfellas (September 28th, 2017). Alone, these color similarities may have been acceptable, but with the following information, it paints an invasive, theft-based picture of Twin Tail Creations’ standards.

In addition to multiple anonymous descriptions of rude customer service, incorrect custom orders where requests for corrections were ignored, the recent conflict between Stripe of Twin Tails with KuduVoodoo, and constant ignorance of any attempt of critical feedback, we do not recommend buying from Twin Tail Creations until they can improve their customer service experience and moral standpoint.

Boy, I was really considering an Axel from BD because it looks like a good shape but why the fuck would I spend 95 fucking dollars base price not including shipping for a small.  I could get something the same size from an indie company for that fuck this shit.  I’ll look for one second hand eventually.

Fuck.

I mean I bet its bc the amount of silicone needed because of the absurd testicles but still.  95 bucks base price is just….  I’m good.  I’ll get that scarab, or batu, or that dalek dildo.

The reasoning behind this is because “[the] pricing structure aims to bring a more consistent shopping experience to customers looking to purchase a certain size or shape of product” They “want customers to feel like if they are shopping for a small, medium, large, etc that the pricing reflects a similarity across the board.”

Which explains my theory (and annoyance) towards the Meng being $40 more now. Since it is a One-Size, they made them all the same price. I still think that is totally stupid (for the one-sizes) considering Meng is about the same size as a SMALL Nox. But there’s some info for everyone. Straight from an Administrative Manager.

“Gunner’s” Signature claims to be dark green, but appears to be a medium blue.
Apollo’s claims to be dark teal but looks like a dark blue.
I’ve offered some examples of what dark teal and green could look like.

Are they clueless as to what colors look like, or are the images misleading?
I know sometimes it’s difficult to capture true color, but c’mon, they use nice equipment and have ways of manipulating an image to make it look realistic.

This is so ugly I don’t even know where to start

Don’t you want to fuck a clown? 🤡

On the one hand, I’m impressed they were able to do fairly round dots in a liquid medium in multiple colours.  That’s got to be insanely difficult to pull off.

On the other hand, it’s incredibly aesthetically unpleasant to look at.

For the record, BD’s anniversary was also last month, not this one.

Bad Dragon labs winners, after spending however much time designing and perfecting a design to be community-approved and popular, after being one of the very, very few designs actually chosen to win, get $200 in cash, or $400 in Bad Dragon credit. From the beginning, you only get half the money unless you can only spend it on their own product.

If Bad Dragon chooses to make the full size range, something that has only happened to one design since 2014, there is an additional $500 in either cash or store credit.

Bad Dragon, having only supplied the means of production and a platform for people to share the ideas on, makes that same initial prize amount after selling approximately three toys. For the full size range reward, it takes about ten mediums. With no additions, or cool colors.

TL;DR withdraw your designs from BD Labs because the only one who really benefits is Bad Dragon, and you’re expendable.

Wait, I thought BD wasn’t even considering Labs designs anymore?
I thought thae labs were pretty much defunct/dead….

They do not visibly approve designs any more, but submissions are still accepted. If you search designs with nothing in the box, you can see a somewhat glitchy version of the most recent submitted designs (but only the first page) and Bad Dragon is able to take these designs even before they’re published. Because of this, it is literally impossible to determine how many of Bad Dragon’s designs have been stolen from submissions that were never shown and never shared elsewhere.

I didn’t even realize submitters *could* recall their designs from Labs, to be truthful, so I was a little thrown off like, ‘is it finally open again?’
But yes, seems much better to sell a design to a smaller maker and work out getting a cut per model that sells or something :/

They are not obligated to remove submissions when asked (as it’s covered by the Terms of Submission) but the people I know of who have ticketed in to ask that their designs be removed have had the request filled. It’s by no means a perfect solution, and I’m sure they have backups of submissions so they can view them after being removed, but it’s a step closer to keeping designs safe.
