After not having access to service for the past few days, we finally have a moment to update you all on how things are. Hurricane Harvey made landfall as a category 4, our town was in the direct path. Our home, which housed our workshop was completely lost to the storm. We have had to flash move into our new home, and luckily did not lose too many belongings. We are without electricity or water and have moved into a shop that is not at all prepared to house our equipment. Our area is devastated, so much has been lost and it will take time to rebuild. We could be without power for weeks. This puts a complete halt to all of our outgoing orders. We will do our best to get inventory orders out as soon as the postal service in our area is running again. I thought I’d take the time to talk a little bit about who we are, what we’re doing, and where we’re going with this whole thing. Strange Bedfellas is a shop run by a married couple in Austin, TX. We make hand-crafted sex toys from 100% platinum cure silicone. Our toys are designed, sculpted, and molded here in house (unless otherwise noted) and are always made of body-safe materials. I’m Meesh (the wife side of the team) and I’ve been an artist for many many years. I’ve created a lot of adult art over the years and this seemed like a good place to take my craft. Here at Strange Bedfellas I’ll be the one doing most of the designing, sculpting, casting, pouring, shipping, and social media management. My husband Holzer handles the 3D sculpting and helps with the designing, pouring, and other shop management things I need an extra hand with 🙂 He has a full time job, whereas I have a completely open schedule to dedicate myself to all of this.
We had a theme of “monster dating service” in mind when we created this business. Who doesn’t want to date monsters?! I’ve always had an affinity for monstrous creatures, so what better to do with all that monster love than sculpt some friends that can hang out in the bedroom? When we eventually move to our own website from the Etsy store I think we’ll be able to dive into the theme more with art and extras. For now, each toy we create will have a character that we’ll at least share the art here for. As a genderfluid person myself, I really liked the idea of monster characters that are gender non-conforming, so we are going to try to make characters in a variety of genders. Also, folks are encouraged to create their own characters to match their toys and share them with us if you are so inclined. Let your imaginations run wild!
With the launch of our store we only have one model available, the Batou, but there are others in the works! Our Aelit model is on the schedule to be molded this week! Two other models are being sculpted right now as well. Very exciting! The process we use to create toys is to sculpt a base in 3D, print it, then do additional hand sculpting on top of the printed base. This results in toys that are a sort of mix of the two processes. Hand sculpting allows us to get more fine detail into our models, but it also means there’s some differences between model sizes. It also means a surface a little more prone to dings and marks in the mold. Still, we aim to make quality designs and spend a lot of time refining shapes and surfaces for these toys.
We’re still learning a lot about this new medium and the coloring and pouring techniques that go along with it. It’s an exciting journey so far and I expect we’ll only get better as we go! For now we’re not offering much in the way of customs because our skills are still at a beginner level, but we should have semi-custom listings up in the shop soon for those interested. We’ll be posting pictures of pours we’ve finished up on this tumblr, so stay tuned for that! It’s taken three attempts, but finally I have printed the first iteration of the new dragon hand model! I’ll get more specific measurements later, but the total height of this is just about 6″ (or it should be, because that’s what I specified to my printer!). Usable is significantly less, although it’s also difficult to define because technically there are multiple usable parts! Either way, pretty sure the total mass of this is going to put it on the larger end of my Medium category.
Now it is time to sand like the wind and get this prepared for molding!

There are many consumers going
into buying frisky beast toys without knowing the previous issues this company has had and continues to exhibit.
Whereas, there are many people sharing their experiences in order to warn others across many platforms. Since theyre scattered across platforms, I’ve decided to make this list as a single place where they can be accessed easily.
Hopefully this list is helpful and helps you judge for yourself before committing to an order.
They have not been answering tickets customers have been sending. There are
many people on the BD forums with the same experience of having tickets
ignored.
They can take anywhere from 1 week to multiple months to ship a premade item. There really is no consistency.
The retrieval cords on their eggs CAN NOT be
sterilized, even through boiling. The weave of the cord holds bacteria
and can be incredibly unsafe to reuse especially if they are being used
anally.
At least two customers have received insects in sterile bags containing products. The first is this post [Archived], the second is a comment within the notes on that post

Their company sculptor Video said in the thread that the base was too large; FB’s mammoth has no form of testicles on the base of their mammoth
FB
claims that the mammoth was based off of elephant genitalia but there
are many elements on FBs mammoth that are the same within the forum
submission which are completely absent or wrong in real life elephants;
creating issue with the excuse of it being similar only due to its
pachyderm inspiration.
FB has been shown to have previously altered submitted toy ideas, without consulting the design creator, as seen above.

stories about orders; Orders (regardless how large) can take anywhere
from 2 months to 2 YEARS as proven by at least one ongoing case of a BD
forum member who ordered during the Planet Terabyte promo and still has not received their order.

There is no consistency with their queue regarding repours or order
priority as can be seen from some customers getting things shipped out
immediately and other orders taking upwards of 7 months to 2 years.
When
confronted about issues, the owners often default to the excuse “We are
only a 2 person company.” While they have allegedly have added one or two more
people to their team, this has done roughly nothing to offset the
customer service issues. There is also no being sure whether these two
additional people still work there.
They are generally inactive on all their social media accounts and have made no
attempt to account for chronic poor customer service and shipping
issues.
Even after ceasing production of guided mysteries, they continue to struggle to ship things in a timely fashion.
I will be completely honest, I believe some of aforementioned list would be excusable if they simply made an effort to communicate to clients in general; when orders will be behind, slow, or what sort of factors are keeping them from working at peak efficiency. But as it is, FB does not seem to believe this to be a necessary step in their business.
There are other low staffed indie toy companies that respect their customers enough to keep them as in-the-know as possible with their orders and things that will affect wait times. It is not an impossible feat to excuse FB from.
The
multitude of issues with their customer service have been consistent
and chronic throughout the years and have only gotten worse as of
recently with the influx of people making paypal disputes against them.
THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST. There are many customers who have been burned who simply do not have Tumblr or haven’t posted about their experiences. This is absolutely by no means an end-all list. There are more stories of bad pours, absurd wait times, bad quality control and communication issues than are listed here.
Boy, I was really considering an Axel from BD because it looks like a good shape but why the fuck would I spend 95 fucking dollars base price not including shipping for a small. I could get something the same size from an indie company for that fuck this shit. I’ll look for one second hand eventually.

I mean I bet its bc the amount of silicone needed because of the absurd testicles but still. 95 bucks base price is just…. I’m good. I’ll get that scarab, or batu, or that dalek dildo.
The reasoning behind this is because “[the] pricing structure aims to bring a more consistent shopping experience to customers looking to purchase a certain size or shape of product” They “want customers to feel like if they are shopping for a small, medium, large, etc that the pricing reflects a similarity across the board.”
Which explains my theory (and annoyance) towards the Meng being $40 more now. Since it is a One-Size, they made them all the same price. I still think that is totally stupid (for the one-sizes) considering Meng is about the same size as a SMALL Nox. But there’s some info for everyone. Straight from an Administrative Manager.
“Gunner’s” Signature claims to be dark green, but appears to be a medium blue. Apollo’s claims to be dark teal but looks like a dark blue. I’ve offered some examples of what dark teal and green could look like.
Are they clueless as to what colors look like, or are the images misleading? I know sometimes it’s difficult to capture true color, but c’mon, they use nice equipment and have ways of manipulating an image to make it look realistic.
One request that we constantly get is for something bigger. No matter how large the toy, there’s someone who wants just a little more. Well, there’s no better way to go big than with a dildo modeled after the world’s largest land mammal!
This is an incredibly girthy toy that will satisfy the most hungry of holes. The XL at its lowest girth is thicker than the Emu Egg, and only Jackson has it beat for usable length. This is our largest ever sculpted toy, but we have plenty of sizes for those of you who are thinking “Yikes” rather than “Yum” right now! From the completely manageable Mini to the serious stretch of the Large, there’s a size for everyone!
But that’s not all! To celebrate this enormous addition to our line-up, we’ve revisited the Elephant Trunk and created a new Natural color option that really shows off its unique texture!
I’ve spent my morning taking pictures and drafting listings, but I didn’t give myself enough time. I should be able to finish the listings tonight when I get home from work.
